As you begin building your website you have to keep in mind that the most important things is to make sure you have alot of visitors to your website. One of the biggest sources of your traffic is search engines. Two popular search engines are Yahoo, and Google. SO if you design your site having that in mind, your site will rank very easy with search engines and in turn get more visitors.
All the Important search engines use crawlers, and/or robots to find websites so that they can put them into their result pages. What they do is follow a link to a page they then read that page and then record that content into their database. Then when people start searching for certain listings this will pull up certain pages.
Another suggestion to making your website more easily indexed make sure you do not use frames on any of your pages. Frames seem to make search engine bots all mixed up which may just make the bots leave your site. Even worse frames make it very hard for visitors to bookmark those pages..
Never use flash movies and or images to give critical information. Bots seem to only be able to read text and will never find or see your information in you use flashes or images.
Always, always use tags on ever page and every post on your website. The Robots will know right away what a certain page is all about and if they need to index it. Using tags you making things easier for the search bot to index your sites more often.
You also need to not use html tags such as <font> on your pages. You should try and use CSS instead. CSS are much more effective and very efficient. Also when you use CSs you are making not only your site and your pages lighter and also they also load much faster.
